What is the tool made from?
The body is made from 6061 T6 aluminum with a Type III, Class 2 black anodized hardcoat IAW MIL-A-8625 and ASTM B221-21.
The individual tools are made from 17-4 PH stainless steel, solution annealed and aged to HRC 39 IAW ASTM A747
The dogging wrench (cheater tube) is polished 304 stainless IAW ASTM A554-2021
The hardware is mare from 17-4 PH stainless condition H925 IAW ASTM A564
How have you tested the tool?
The tool has been lab tested for corrosion resistance IAW SAE J2334 (Laboratory Cyclic Corrosion Test) simulating a 5 year exposure to salt air environment.
Each has also undergone torque tolerance testing and can withstand 5x normal operating requirements for the fittings they are used on.
We've also sent tools to private and U.S. Navy Sailors and told them to do their worst. Our calls to get the tools back go unanswered or they ask for more.
What if a tool breaks?
As a former junior sailor I know that if a tool can be broken, junior sailors will find a way to do it. With that in mind, the multi-tool was designed so if a tool breaks, you simply remove the e-clip, slide the pin out, replace the broken part with a new one, then reassemble. No fuss needed.
What the dimensions?
The tool is designed to be handheld, light weight, and functional.
It weights 3lbs 2oz.
Is 9-1/2" x 2-3/8" x 1-7/8"
Each tool can lock in 45⁰, 90⁰, and 180⁰ allowing it navigate the tight working areas on ships.
